11/09/2008 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Adam is a catcher with a solid, strong looking body that is suited well for the position. Arm strength is slightly average and he does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and lowering pop times. He shows a solid transfer and gets right of the baseball quickly. He does fly off causing balls to tail at target. As he learns to stay behind and throw the baseball with his feet and body, will aid in providing more carry on his throws. Blocking and receiving skills are slightly average. He displays soft hands and works mitt around the baseball, presenting a clear view to umpire. Blocking skills will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments. At the plate, Pickus has slightly average abilities with solid average power. He shows a balanced, athletic stance that allows him to load well and drive hips through the swing. Swing path gets long due to front side flying open, creating a dead pull type swing. Staying closed on the front side will enable the hands to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Adam has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
