08/04/2008 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Airic is a young 1B with a strong looking body. Foot speed is average and shows solid foot work around the bag. He receives the baseball well at the bag. He does need to utilize his feet more in coming to get the baseball with his feet. Glove action is deep allowing the ball to get deep in on his body, dictating play. He needs to present his hands more out front and play through with his feet and hands. Arm strength is near average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to further aid in development. At the plate, Steagall has slightly average ability with solid average power. Bat speed is a plus and he does a nice job of keeping the barrel through the barrel to the pull side. Power is limited to the pull side due to long swing bat. Power will increase as he learns to utilize the lower half more efficiently. Airic is young 2010 graduate, with ability and room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
