07/19/2008 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Alex Rampone is a strong looking athletic player. At 3B, Alex shows a good approach and soft hands. He turns the double play well despite fielding the ball deep and he has a strong arm across the infield. He needs to learn to stay low throughout the fielding process. At the plate, Alex squares his shoulders and has bat speed. He uses his lower half and can create some pull side pop. He needs to get his stride foot down earlier which will allow body to react quicker. Alex has potential at the next level.

01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 Alex is an athletic 3B/SS that worked around the ball well with good feet. He fields out front and has a quick release on throws that produce good life and carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a good lower 1/2, bat speed, and barrel accuracy in an approach that utilizes all fields. He will improve when he can be earlier with his stride, which help to improve fluidity.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
