11/07/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) AJ starts from an athletic, square stance and utilizes a soft and square stride to work himself into a launch position. AJ's hands could be activated more by pushing them up and back slightly while he strides to create the separation you want as a hitter. The hands stay inside the baseball, helping to create a short and compact stroke that allows AJ to use the whole field well with a line-drive approach. Looking to drive the ball more by generating a bit more explosion with the lower half will increase power numbers. Just a 2019 grad, AJ shows a quality approach and has a good deal of upside to build on in the coming years.

07/06/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition Anthony continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Despite being hindered by a sore wrist, he showed solid defensive grades which are advanced for his age. He moves well laterally and attacks balls with his feet while presenting hands well out front. He displays clean / smooth actions and has soft / sure hands. At the plate, hitting grades and power numbers have improved as well through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a solid line drive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays with good energy. Most players would have left the camp, but Anthony proved he was dedicated and wanted to learn as much as he could despite the injury. He is the type of player that every coach wants.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Anthony is an athletic and talented infielder that has a lot of upside. In the infield he has quick feet, fields with sure hands, and uses the proper footwork with his approach. He works around the ball well and demonstrated good body control. His exchange is quick and me makes accurate throws across the diamond with good carry. At the plate he has strong balance, uses his lower half well, and has good bat speed for his age. Anthony is a strong kid that has a lot of power potential. He showed that he can drive the ball gap to gap and should continue to improve in all areas.

08/14/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Anthony is a skilled 2-way player who can swing it. Offensively, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid setup. He swings on a level path with good barrel accuracy, squaring the ball up. At SS, Anthony shows active footwork in his approach to the ground ball. He fields the ball with soft hands and fires accurate throws across the diamond. Behind the dish, Campbell sits in well and receives with a soft mitt. Throws show good carry down to 2B as he puts them right on the bag. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Glove presentation
2. Quicker footwork
Catching
1. Lower target
2. Blocking

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
