03/25/2007 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Ben showed above average skills in receiving the baseball behind the plate. He displays a solid set up, with good flexion in glove side. He does a nice job of working around the baseball. He did a solid job of deaden balls in the blocking process and will get better with some fundamental work. Ben needs to develop more arm strength if he is going to control the running game from behind the plate at the next level. He displayed average ability at the plate and does need some fundamental work to hit at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
