12/27/2008 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2008 Codispoti showed a loose arm, with improved arm strength. He showed flashes of accuracy and ability to make throws with on-line carry, but tended to be a little erratic at times. He did a good job of blocking pitches, kept them in front well. Can work to improve his receiving skills, needs to soften his receiving arm - stay flexed and softer to help hands be softer and more fluid. Can work to stay underneath ball better to exchange, will help him be more sure handed with transfer. At the plate, he showed a short swing and an aggressive approach. Did a good job of putting the ball in play, but can work to improve lower body action in order to generate more power from his swing. Ran 7.48 in the 60-yard dash.

08/09/2008 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Ben is a young two way player in the OF and at behind the plate. Foot speed is near above average and he utilizes his quick feet well in the outfield. His feet are aggressive and active in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the outfield. Arm strength is average and shows better in the outfield. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further development in building more arm strength. Behind the plate, Codispoti shows below average ability and needs instruction and work to improve grades and abilities. At the plate, Ben has average ability and power. He makes solid contact and utilizes his lower half well through the swing. He will improve quickly at the plate with instruction and adjustments. Ben is young 2010 graduate with abilities and time to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
