05/28/2017 - College PREP - Keizer (Salem), OR Brian is a talented shortstop prospect who has above average arm strength and graduates in 2020. In the field, Brian plays with active footwork and takes the correct angles to cover a wide range of territory. He presents his glove and fields the ball squarely with smooth glove work. Brian has a clean exchange leading into short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball to produce consistent, online throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Brian has a crouched stance and partially uses his lower half. He takes a square stride and has a long swing path. Brian does a nice job engaging his hips throughout his swing and finishes nicely. He has a solid approach and can drive the ball to the opposite field. Overall, Brian has skill on both sides of the ball and high upside to get even better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
