01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Chris is a two position guy who showed slightly better as an infielder at this event. On the mound he got good extension with a loose arm and a fastball in the 79-83 range. Had a big, loose breaking ball as well. Needs to develop a changeup and improve arm strength if he is going to be effective at the next level. At 3B he has an accurate arm with plenty of carry. Actions are athletic and hands are average. Needs to quicken his exchange and soften up his hands to make the play out in front more consistently. With the bat, Chris has loose hands and flashed some gap power. The ball comes off of his bat with some life. Bat path is average and he hits into a firm front side. Has a chance to be a solid college infielder.

12/27/2008 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2008 Palomo showed a good bat path along with good bat speed and gap power. He needs to avoid tendency to let back shoulder dip, working to get more weight to front side through contact will help him level out and improve his extension. Defensively, he worked around the ball well with his feet and showed good arm strength across the infield. On the mound, his fastball was 77-81 and he featured an above average breaking ball. He tended to get uphill with his shoulders (much like at the plate) after rotating his front hip open too quickly, his arm dragged as a result and he tended to miss high and to his arm side. Needs to slow down his lower half in order to give his arm more time to work, has potential to get to more velocity as his pitching mechanics improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
