01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Charlie continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities, especially his foot speed in which he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.42. He does need to continue to improve foot quickness through a speed / agility program. He continues to utilize his feet well in the outfield displaying above average defensive ability. At the plate, he was 1 for 5 with a 3B to deep right. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. He does have some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential but he is coachable and willing to make adjustments. Hitting grades will continue to improve with instruction and adjustments at the plate. He currently still projects best in the OF where he will catch the eyes of the college coaches.

10/19/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 11 Charlie had a good workout by improving his 60-time and his arm grade. In the OF, had quick feet which allowed him to be aggressive to balls. Kept feet active at all times with ability to play thru ball. Stayed in-line with target and arm had good loose actions with some carry on ball. Had decent use of lower half during swing. At the plate, good quick hands to hitting zone with level path throughout. Barrel accuracy will improve with better extension thru ball. Had a tendency to drop hands at start of swing.

08/10/2008 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Charlie showed for the first time in the outfield and he projects well at the position. Defensive ability is well above average as he takes proper routes and angles in tracking down fly balls. He reads the ball off the bat well and gets solid jumps. Arm strength is solid average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to continue to aid in further developing more arm strength. At the plate, Apter has really improved his abilities. Hitting is well above average with solid average power. He does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball, utlizing all fields. He will catch the eyes of the college coaches with his abilities in the outfield and at the plate.

08/18/2007 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Charlie showed in the middle of the infield and on the mound. He currently projects best at 2B at present time due well above average tools with his defensive ability and arm strength. At the plate, he shows a level swing path and found the barrel consistently. He does get out around a lot of balls creating a pull type swing. He is currently a tier B player in the infield and will have to improve foot speed to become a tier A. On the mound, Charlie shows good command of all his pitches. He shows slightly above average off speed pitches through a solid delivery. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to develop more velocity with his fast ball. Apter is a young player, 2009 graduate that has potential with a long room to improve.

12/27/2006 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2006 Good balance and contact. Good energy and very coachable.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
