08/09/2008 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Corey continues to show improvement. He has improved arm strength and velocities since the last time that we saw him. He showed a slider for the first time that is similar to his breaking ball. Corey needs to get on a strict long toss program to continue to aid in the development of more arm strength. He also improved hitting grades now showing solid average ability. Approach is solid and maintains good balance throughout his swing. Improving overall body strength will aid in increasing more power. He did not work out in the outfield at the event.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Blake has a long, lean projectable body. His mid to upper 70's fastball goes along with an 11-5 shape downer type breaking pitch that flashed sharp break. He can work to improve his balance and his direction through release. With added size and strength, his stuff could see a noticeable jump. Showed solid instincts in the outfield, along with good balance at the plate. Primary value appears to be on the mound. Lowered his 60-yard dash from 7.70 down to 7.37.

08/18/2007 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Corey has a tall, lanky body that shows a ton of projection on the mound. His frame shows a lot of room to fill out and further develop. He displays a well above average delivery that allows his arm action to be easy, loose, and is long on the backside. He shows two slightly above average off speed pitches with his CB and CH. His fastball is somewhat straight, topping out at 75. If he further develops his arm strength through a strict long toss program, his stock and class rating will rise. Corey is young and still has time to further develop.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
