08/04/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 1 Corey is a young two-way player in the OF plus on the mound with a lean, athletic body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Feet are active in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF but must improve foot speed to improve range. Throws flash carry and accuracy as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program. Offensively, Ensslin works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing pop when he centers the baseball with power numbers improving as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-78 mph with slightly above to average off speed pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Corey has abilities with time and room to improve. He works hard, is very coachable, and will put in the extra time to better himself.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
