11/16/2008 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Cullen is a RHP with an outstanding body that is well suited for the position. His body is tall, thick and does show projection as it continues to physically mature. He utilizes his tall frame to work on a strong downhill plane, creating solid angles with his pitches. Arm strength is well above average and would benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength. Fastball has solid arm side run. Breaking ball is his best off speed pitch showing average ability. It shows an 11/5 shape with loose spin. Changeup is below average. Off speed pitches need work and further development to be effective at the next level. He does need some polish with mechanics of his delivery which will aid with his command and control. At the plate, Root has solid average ability with near above average power. He shows a short, compact path, keeping hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He shows power potential as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Cullen has an upside on the mound and if his off speed pitches come around, his stock will rise quickly.
