01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 David continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities. His hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process. Foot speed continues to show above average and he utilizes his quick feet well in tracking down balls in the OF. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength and carry on throws. At the plate, Bamburg continues to show the solid bat speed and the ability to get the barrel on the baseball. We have seen him show better at the plate, then he showed at the event. With continue development, David has the makings to be a solid collegiate player.

07/05/2008 - Team One South 2008 - Scouting Report David has a nice, strong body shown by his tall, athletic frame. Defensively, he plays through balls decently and takes good angles to lateral balls. He will improve field-ability by being more aggressive with his feet and by softening his load. He will also need to work on smoothening out his body movements, as they are fairly stiff. His arm is strong, accurate and shows late carry to his target, and it will improve as he extends towards his target. As a hitter, David has a very good, quiet approach to the ball. He displays plenty of bat speed and he can use the entire field well. He will add more carry and bat speed in his swing by firing his lower body and by being more direct to the ball with his hands. David has a tendency of being a bit long with his swing, as he comes around the ball. Overall, David shows plus tools in all areas and will be a gem for college coaches to develop mechanically.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
