06/29/2008 - Team One West 2008 - Scouting Report David is a two way player showing at 3B and on the mound. He has an outstanding athletic looking body with lots of athletic actions in it. Currently, he does project best at 3B. Arm strength is solid average displaying carry across the infield. Arm slot is low and accuracy will improve if he stays on top of the baseball more. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to continue to build more arm strength. Glove action is soft and solid but presents a deep glove action allowing the baseball to get in on his body, dictating play. Glove action will show better if he will be more aggressive with his feet in coming to get the baseball, playing through with his feet and hands. At the plate is where Hull really shines. He shows near above average ability with outstanding raw power. He shows good balance allowing his hands to work through the zone. Bat speed is a plus and he shows a consistent feel for the barrel. He displays strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, Hull shows solid average ability. Fastball displays good movement showing sink and run. Breaking ball is his best off speed pitch displaying a 3/9 shape, tight spin with a sweeping break. Changeup is average and needs work to be a quality pitch at the next level. Delivery is solid showing good rhythm and tempo. He works in line with on time separation, allowing his arm to work loose and free away from his body. David will catch the eyes of the college coaches with his baseball abilities, especially his power at the plate.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
