06/29/2008 - Team One West 2008 - Scouting Report David shows as a two player on the mound and at 2B. He does project well at both positions at the next level. Foot speed in near above average as indicated by his 60 time. He utilizes his quick feet in moving laterally displaying range. Arm strength is solid average showing life and carry across the diamond. He would benefit from getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing arm strength. Glove action is sure but he needs to utilize his feet more through the fielding process, currently gets on his heels. At the plate, Lidyard shows average ability with solid average power. He has some strength in his swing and does a nice job of finding the barrel. He does have some mechanical flaws that with polish and instruction should be corrected quickly improving stock as a hitter. On the mound, David works on a downhill plane and shows two solid average off speed pitches. Breaking ball shows potential to be a quality pitch at the next level. Arm action and command are above average. David will catch the eyes of the college coaches with his abilities on the mound and in the infield.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
