08/10/2008 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Dennis is a two way player on the mound and behind the plate. He currently projects best behind the plate where he has solid abilities. Arm strength is solid average displaying a quick arm action and carry to the bag. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength. Pop times will drop if he shortens his transfer and exchange. Receiving skills and blocking skills are solid average. He displays a quiet body and soft hands. He uses his body in the blocking process but is late and a little stiff. At the plate, Brown has solid average ability and slightly average power. He flashes bat speed and shows a feel for the barrel to the pull side. Swing path gets long and he needs to let the ball travel more, keeping hands inside the baseball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fast ball shows arm side run with solid command. Off speed pitches are average and need further development for the next level. Dennis has ability behind the plate and needs to concentrate his work ethic there. He will catch the eyes of some college coaches with his abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
