07/29/2008 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2008 Torres showed improved skills on the mound. He flashed arm side run with his fastball (78-84) and an above average curve (68-70). He has a pitchers build, a loose arm and good extension from the left side. He has some room to improve f he can make better use of his lower half. His arm speed will improve if he can get stacked at his landing and use his glove side for better balance through the off speed pitches. Torres has some holes defensively at first base. His arm action screams pitcher and he is a bit crude with his routes and angles. He has a tendency to over run thru ball and his footwork needs to get quicker and tighter. His bat can make up for his short comings at first with a bit of work. He has big power potential in his bat if he can improve his rhythm and balance. He will get better balance by staying loose and getting off his heels earlier.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
