03/20/2011 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Minogue has improved all aspects of his game since we last saw him. Body has gotten stronger and overall approach is mature. Throws are downhill with great backspin and accuracy. Life out of hand and carry. Receiving and blocking are clean and looked polished. Hitting has also improved, has a repeatable swing with life off the barrel. Used all fields in the workout and went gap to gap. Dom is transferring from Pfeiffer Univ. and already has his release to speak to other coaches.

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Minogue continues to show solid play in his abilities behind and at the plate. His throws show carry and accuracy as he works in line with hands/feet working well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving and blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. Offensively, Dominck shows a solid feel for the barrel as he works to keep hands inside ball, utilizing all fields through a balanced approach.

10/14/2009 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2009 Dominick improved his power grade while at this event. Behind the plate, showed good aptitude for playing the position. Demonstrated athletic stance with low target for pitchers. Firm wrist allowed him to stick pitches as he was able to get around pitches. While blocking, good athletic actions allowed him to be quick to knees and cover hole. Took proper angles to get to ball and center it. Throws to 2B were accurate with some carry on it. Pop times will improve as he quickens his release. At the plate, had good approach with a quiet load. Showed direct hands to hitting zone which allowed him to stay inside ball. This allowed him to consistently hit the ball up the middle. Power numbers will continue to improve as he continues to finish with backside.

09/12/2009 - E-ACR - Maryland 8 Dominick had an excellent workout by improving every facet of his game. Behind the plate, presented good low target with quiet actions. Had good flexion in elbow which allowed him to get around and stick all pitches. Good athletic actions allowed him to move quickly to center and block balls. Great footwork allowed him to get in proper throwing position on throws to 2B. Gained ground and demonstrated quick exchange on accurate throws. Stringent long toss program will help improve velocity. At the plate, he stood in well as he had direct hands to the hitting zone. Kept his hands inside ball which allowed him to use all fields. Held his ground effectively as he utilized his lower half and drove the ball to each gap with above-average power.

06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2009 Donimick continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.60 runner. He will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. He shows an efficient transfer / exchange into a quick release. He is a solid receiver and blocker with both skills playing at the next level. At the plate, Minogue continues to show as a switch hitter with above average abilities from both sides of the plate. He shows an aggressive approach with a solid eye at the plate. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating bat speed with ball jumping off bat when centered. Swing path is level displaying plus gap to gap power. He was 3 for 11 at the event with several line drive outs. Donimick has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities behind and at the plate.

02/20/2009 - Spring Training Camp - 2009 Minogue showed much better than we saw previously. He is a talented and capable switch hitter with a fluid, balanced swing along with bat speed and gap power from both sides of the plate. He is a natural right handed hitter and has more bat speed and life in his swing from that side, but his left handed swing may be a little sounder overall. Needs to make sure to stay on top and drive his lower half through contact, will need to let the ball travel more consistently in order to do so. Defensively, he is flexible and athletic in his ability to maintain athletic positions to receive block and throw. His catching skill set is well rounded - hands and body work well to receive, he moves well to block and he showed solid footwork and good arm action to throw. Can work to eliminate some extra shoulder action to exchange, and needs to continue to work on alignment and rhythm with his footwork. Overall, a talented young player with potential to be a solid college prospect.

12/07/2008 - College PREP - McCook, IL Dominick is an athletic catcher with a quick exchange and an accurate arm. Arm strength needs to improve, but he is quiet and relaxed on the catch and gives a good low target. On the block, he kicks back and takes average angles. Would like to see him work to gain ground on the ball in the dirt. At the plate, he is square and balanced and gets good extension. He needs to find some rhythm to get his lower half going. No stride approach, but he is stiff and mechanical pre-pitch. Getting that lower half going is what is going to allow him some more life in his barrel. Solid young player with room to grow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
