06/18/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 3 Eric is a small, fast OF who has high energy and works hard. In the OF, loosened up his actions and showed decent carry. Took good angles cause of quick actions and gained ground on crow-hop. Long toss will help improve arm strength. At times, throws from open stance which takes away some velo. Would like to see better direction by following thru towards target. At the plate, square stance and good set-up allowed for line drive approach and ability to spray to all fields. Showed ability to use lower half. Would like to see better pre-pitch movements since he had no load and dead hands. Chokes the bat and locks himself up because body is tense. Loose muscles create quick actions.

08/18/2007 - College PREP - Purchase, NY 8/18/2007 SUNY Purchase--Eric shows decent carry on his throws from the outfield. His actions are steady, and he moves well laterally. His arm action is a bit stiff and he throws up against his front side. Would like to see him loosen up his arm and allow his momentum to carry beyond his stride to improve carry. At the plate, he is tall in his stance. He keeps a line drive approach and sprays the ball around well. He lacks a load and lower half rotation. Would like to see him get some pre-pitch movement/rhythm, and use the lower half to get his barrel through the zone quicker. Young with time to grow and improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
