12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Eric is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at Pirate City. In the field, Eric has active feet to get into a square stance, presenting his glove out front to field. He gets good carry on his throws across the diamond and keeps them consistently accurate to his target. At the plate, Eric sets up in an athletic, open stance and has decent bat speed coming through the zone. Eric can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing path to the ball. On the mound, Eric shows a two pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 74-76mph with arm side tail and sinking action. Splitter ranges from 65-67mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Eric can improve as a pitcher by pausing briefly at his balance point and by using his lower half more in his motion. Overall, Eric is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Eric is a tall, lanky SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.32. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path with extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-79 mph with arm side run. He throws a split finger that shows arm side sink. He throws a cutter that resembles the fastball. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Eric has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
