08/30/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 9 Erick hustled throughout the event and improved his 60-time during this event. In the OF, got in good throwing position so he could make accurate throws. Was aggressive to all balls with good angles. Showed ability to play thru ground ball. Balls will develop better carry when he gets behind fly balls and utilizing his lower half. At the plate, showed ability to use all fields. Had barrel accuracy with ability to extend thru ball and used lower half efficiently. He starts open which doesn't allow him to get to outside pitch consistently. Flashes ability for good short pre-pitch load and keep hands inside ball. On the mound, had consistent mechanics with loose shoulder actions. Had good separation and good direction with ability to hide the ball. Had good late movement on pitches. Deception will improve when he keeps the arm speed the same for all pitches.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
