08/09/2008 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Garrett is a young outfielder with an outstanding body with a ton of athletic ability. His body shows a ton of projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is near above average and he utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls in the outfield. He takes proper routes and angles in working to get behind the baseball to play through with momentum to his target. Arm strength is near above average and shows life, carry and is on line to his target. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. Improving foot work to throw will also aid in improving arm grade. At the plate, Martin continues to shine with above average ability and power. He displays a solid set up and does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He takes his hands directly to the ball and shows a solid feel for the barrel. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Garrett is young 2010 graduate that has potential to develop into a prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
