04/12/2015 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Garrett is a lean, athletic OF that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.35 60 time. Defensive grade in the OF are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. With 2 years to further develop, Garrett has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
