03/13/2016 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Giovanni continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and shows a feel for the barrel, displaying gap to gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a solid receiver. He works hard and is not afraid to body up balls. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Continuing to increase foot quickness will aid in improving range.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Giovanni Aguilar is a 5'10/165 lbs senior 1B that showed a hardworking, coachable attitude at the Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona. Offensively, he got his hands activated to hit and delivered the barrel through the zone with his hands and hips. He showed a good barrel path with good looseness through the zone. Working to maintain a square position with his lower half to launch and utilizing contact points will help give him more consistency with hard contact. Defensively, he showed good actions with solid footwork and familiarity around the bag. He began to work his feet pre-pitch, engaging his lower half to improve his first step quickness moving to the ball. In all - Giovanni has the aptitude necessary to continue improving his game to take it to the next level.

12/13/2015 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Giovanni is a R/R 1B who has a solid frame and strong lower half. At 1B, he shows fluid actions and proper footwork around the bag as he is a quality receiver, displaying clean hands. Offensively, he shows an aggressive approach and lets the ball travel as he works to stay inside the ball. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently and improves balance. Overall, he has abilities with a lot of room to continue to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
