12/27/2008 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic 2008 Hughston is an OF with a small frame that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is outstanding and he utilizes his quick athletic feet well in tracking down balls in the outfield. His feet actually play quicker than his 7.03 60 time, displaying range and great closing speed. Arm strength is solid average and does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and carry. His throws are accurate. Defensive abilities are near above average. At the plate, Armstrong has near above average ability with slightly average power. He shows solid balance through a quick, short swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers increasing as more overall body strength is developed. His is aggressive and quick on the base paths and will create havoc for other teams. Hughston plays hard and is very coachable with the makings of becoming a special type player at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
