03/06/2011 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Hugo is a thin 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2011. Defensively, Hugo has firm hands, active feet, and he covers ground well. He fields out in front, on the balls of his feet, and his exchange is quick and clean. Hugo has a quick arm action and delivers the ball with average strength and consistent accuracy to his target. If Hugo can soften his glove, and add arm strength, offensive numbers can further improve. At the plate, Hugo has a tall / square approach, good load, and short stride. He has proper balance, direct hands to the ball, and average bat speed. Hugo has a short swing, he makes square contact, and he swings in good rhythm. Offensive numbers can get better if Hugo can liven his bat through the zone, and improve his bat angle.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
