06/17/2008 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Ian is a young infielder with a thin frame that shows some projection as he continues to physically mature. Fielding ability is average and shows as his best tool. He shows a solid backhand with overall solid glove and hand action. Foot speed needs to improve to play in the middle of the infield at the next level. Arm strength is near average and suited only for 2B at present time. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to further aid in building of arm strength. At the plate, Grecco shows some balance and gets the barrel to the baseball. He does have some mechanical flaws in his approach and swing path. He currently shows a late approach causing everything to rush, creating an uphill swing path. Ian has some ability with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
