10/12/2008 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Jacob is a LHP with a tall, solid frame on the mound. He utilizes his tall frame in working on a strong downhill plane. Arm strength is solid average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and velocities. Fastball has life and is heavy. Four seam fastball is flat with two seam showing arm side run. He does display above average commend to both sides of the plate with his fastball. Breaking ball displays a 1/7 shape with tight spin and gradual break. Changeup shows a solid feel for with run and sinking action. Off speed pitches show potential to be quality pitches with some work. Delivery is smooth, easy showing on time separation and in line direction. Jacob will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound from the left side.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
