06/30/2008 - College PREP - Buffalo, NY Jake has really improved since the last time that we saw him. Foot speed is near above average and he utilizes his feet well through the fielding and throwing process. He displays good prep work and is aggressive with his feet in coming to get the baseball. Glove action and hands are clean and sure in making all the plays. Arm strength is above average displaying life and carry across the diamond. He has loose actions with a ton of life in his body, showing off his outstanding abilities in the middle of the infield. At the plate, Jake has well above average ability. Bat speed is a plus and he shows a solid feel for the barrel. Power is a plus but currently only to the pull side. Burachalk will draw a lot of interest from the college coaches with his current tools.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
