12/27/2008 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2008 Dunbar showed versatile defensive ability, along with solid average arm strength. He played infield and was solid there, but may have a future in the outfield - made an excellent over the shoulder catch in the gap, and seemed to move a little more naturally there than in the infield. At the plate, he hit from an open stance and did a good job of closing down with his stride - he reached a good hitting position with his weight back and hands ready. He had some rhythm to hit, and showed some barrel accuracy. On the mound, he topped at 78 with his fastball and did a good job of throwing strikes despite a tendency to rush his delivery. Can work to slow down and gain more control of his body, will help him use his lower half better and possibly generate more life on his pitches.

07/28/2008 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Jake is athletic and young. Although he also pitches with a balanced directional delivery and decent arm action, he is more suited for the infield at this time. Defensively, Jake has soft hands and he turns the double play well. His throws have arm strength and are accurate. He has a good feel for the position. At the plate, Jake has bat speed and good use of the lower half. He remains balanced throughout the swing and can hit the ball where it is pitched. His swing tends to get a little long. Jake has potential in the coming years.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
