10/19/2008 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Jared is a young RHP with a thin body that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Delivery is solid with on time separation and deception. His mechanics are consistent creating a repeatable delivery. He does throw across his body but arm action works well away from his body. Arm slot is a low ' slot that creates movement on his ball. Fastball has arm side run. Arm strength is near average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and rise in velocities. Changeup is his best off speed pitch showing an average feel with sinking action. Breaking ball displays loose spin with a 10/4 shape and needs more consistency. If arm strength is developed, Jared stock will rise in a hurry. He has abilities with room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
