10/08/2008 - Florida National Tournament - 2008 Gruber showed soft hands and very good receiving ability behind the plate. His feet worked well also, he has some life in his actions and ability to work with. Improvements in arm strength and blocking are needed most at this point. At the plate, he showed good hands and hand-eye coordination along with an aggressive approach. Needs to work on tracking pitches, and on flattening out his stroke through the hitting zone. Overall, has a great work ethic along with good ability. As he gets stronger, quicker and faster he has potential to develop into a solid college prospect.

08/04/2008 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Jeremy is a catcher with a tall frame behind the plate. His body does show projection as it continues to fill out. He shows a solid set up behind the plate with receiving skills near above average. He presents soft hands and works well around the baseball. Blocking skills are average and he does need some work and instruction in this area. Arm strength is slightly average displaying some carry with accuracy into his target. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to continue to aid in the development of more arm strength. Pop times are solid average due to his feet and arm working well together into a quick release. At the plate, Graber shows slightly average ability with average power. He has a simple approach and does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He does show a fill for the barrel. Power numbers will increase as his body strength improves. Jeremy has potential with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
