07/22/2008 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ John is an OF with near above average foot speed. He reads the baseball well off the bat and takes proper routes and angles in playing through the baseball. Arm strength is slightly average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to further aid in the development of more arm strength. Throws are accurate and show decent carry into his target. At the plate, Celona shows slightly below average ability with below average power. He does need to get some instruction and development on his set up and approach at the plate. He shows potential and will improve quickly with work. Overall body strength will also aid in raising baseball tool grades. John has ability with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
