07/22/2008 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ John continues to show a ton of ability in the OF and at the plate. Arm strength shows carry and life. Throws will improve He does need to continue to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Foot speed is outstanding and he utilizes his quick athletic feet in tracking down balls in the outfield. He takes proper angles and routes to show outstanding range. He works behind to play through with momentum to target. He has an idea in the outfield and gets it done. At plate, Peluso shows near above average ability with a great feel for the barrel. Bat speed is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat. He keeps hands inside the ball and sprays the ball all over. He will hit at the next level. John will get a lot of looks from the college coaches with his baseball abilities.

06/19/2008 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - 2008 Peluso ran 6.70 in the 60-yard dash, the second time we have seen him run in this range (he ran 6.69 in April 2008). In the outfield, he showed good instincts and got good jumps - giving him potential for excellent range once he improves his angles and routes to the ball. At the plate, he showed great hands and excellent bat speed. He showed potential extra base power and is an overall impressive talent with the bat. Can work to improve pitch selection and plate discipline skills. Was named the Most Outstanding Player on his team at this event, thanks a combination of abilities on the field and they way he carried himself as a baseball player and a young man.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
