07/05/2008 - Team One South 2008 - Scouting Report Josh will be an interesting prospect for college coaches as he is tall, left-handed and throws side-arm. Although his mechanics need a little work, he is deceptive and effective with his delivery. Josh maintains good direction and pulls well with his glove. He has a good backdoor curveball, but he needs to locate to the opposite side of the plate. He will increase his control with all pitches by keeping his shoulder from flying early, and will have increased velocity by following through with his lower half. Overall, Josh is fairly raw with above average arm action. The development of his mechanics will be vital in his role as a college pitcher

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
