08/10/2008 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Josh continues to show improvement in all his baseball abilities. Arm strength and defensive abilities improved to now well above average tools. At the plate, skills have improved with increase in power production. He shows a solid feel for the barrel to the pull side. On the mound, Wilson continues to impress showing 4 quality pitches. He could now be a two way player at the next level and will get looks from the college coaches.

06/05/2008 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2008 Wilson improved both his 60-yard dash time and top end fastball velocity at this event. He ran the 60 in 7.15, down from 7.29, and topped at 87 mph, up from 84 mph. On the mound, he featured a quick arm and at times a solid breaking ball. He gathered well to balance in his delivery, and was aggressive through with his lower half. Tended to break his hands a bit late, causing his arm to drag and pitches to miss up and to the arm side. Can work to break hands a little earlier in order to give his arm more time to work on the back side - will help him get his release point more out front, which should help the plane on his fastball and the action on his breaking pitch. Has a live, quick arm to work with and he is a solid athlete overall. At the plate, his stroke was a little long but he got the barrel through the zone with some life. Played solid at third base as well, both his arm and glove showed around solid average. Overall, has the most potential on the mound.

03/09/2008 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Joshua shows as a two-way player on the mound and at 3B. He currently projects well at both positions. He displays well above average arm strength displaying life and carry across the diamond. His glove action is solid, making all the plays. His backhand is well above average. He does need to be more aggressive with his feet in the fielding process. At the plate, Joshua shows average ability. He flashes some bat speed and finds the barrel through a long swing path. With some work and polish on mechanics, his hitting grades and skills will rise quickly. On the mound, Joshua displays arm side run on his fast ball. His off speed pitches are solid average and should get better as his body and arm continue to mature. He has potential with room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
