10/26/2008 - College PREP - Stockton, CA Justin has a strong, athletic body that projects at the next level for a pitcher. On the mound, had good loose arm action with ability to repeat delivery. Was very deliberate with good rhythm throughout motion. Showed good top half extension with ability to extend thru pitch. Would like to see him stay closed with lower half which will allow him to effectively use lower half. Deception will improve when he keeps arm speed the same on all pitches. Plus it will enhance spin and break on all pitches. At the plate, showed good balance with ability to keep hands inside ball that allowed him to hit to the opposite field. Level swing allows for correct spin on ball for good carry. Would like to see him be aggressive with lower half.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
