Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Justin is a polished RHP with the look of a winner. He has excellent mound presence and appears in total control. His delivery is athletic and balanced leading to the ability to repeat it consistently. His fastball sits in the mid 80s with some downhill plane and riding life. He is extremely confident in this pitch and aggressively attacks hitters with the fastball. He complements it with a breaking ball that has 10-4 shape and late bite. Justin is a strike thrower with a good work ethic and competitive nature. He will help a college pitching staff.

07/26/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One North Pedone continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the mound. Arm strength has improved, showing as outstanding as he topped out at 86 mph. Fastball shows a range of 82-86mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a solid feel for with sinking action. Slider resembles breaking ball but displays early break. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained.

08/06/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Justin worked out at both 3B and on the mound during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, Justin has good pre-pitch actions, he presents his glove early, and he fields cleanly. He has a quick / short release, and throws with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Justin has eyes on target, level shoulders, and a good mound presence. He has good direction toward home and attacks hitter with strikes. At the plate, Justin has good balance, a level swing path, and good bat speed.

02/26/2012 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Justin is a tall RHP who graduates in 2014. On the mound, he has a quick arm action and delivers from a high 3/4 arm slot. He throws strikes with all of his pitches and has solid off-speed. His CB shows 11/5 shape and his CH has arm side run and sink. Better glove tuck and smoother mechanics will help his mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, he displays an athletic/open setup, no load and short stride. Shows some rhythm and is a line-drive type hitter. More lower 1/2 and letting the ball travel deeper into the zone will help hitting abilities. Pedone has some skills and still has time to work on them.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
