11/16/2008 - College PREP - Monmouth, OR Kane is a young, 2011 graduate that shows as a LHP with a short, thin body that does show projection as it matures with age. Delivery is solid displaying balance, direction, and rhythm. It is repeatable allowing his arm to work loose and easy away from his body. Arm strength is below average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building arm strength and raising velocities. Fastball is downhill and shows good movement with arm side run. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch showing near above average displaying a 12/6 downward shape, tight spin, and late action. Changeup is solid average showing an above average feel with sinking action. He has solid command of all his pitches, throwing consistent strikes with all 3 pitches. At the plate, Rowley has slightly average ability and power. He loads well getting his body into a strong launch position. He keeps hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase as overall body strength is gained. Kane has an upside on the mound and with 3 years to further develop, he has the makings to be a solid LHP at the next level, especially if velocities continue to rise.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
