12/27/2008 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic 2008 Keith is a young two way player at SS and on the mound with a thin frame that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is below average and he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Defensive abilities are slightly average showing a solid feel for his backhand. Fielding grades will improve quickly as he learns to come get and play through the baseball with his feet and hands. Arm strength is slightly average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. At the plate, Evans has slightly average ability and power. He is a line drive type hitter with a solid two strike approach. Hitting grades and power numbers will improve quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. On the mound, Keith showed the ability to get outs by staying down in the zone. He changes speeds well and mixes pitches, keeping hitters off balance. With 2 years to further develop, Evans has abilities with room and time to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
