10/14/2012 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Kolby is a LHP who graduates in 2014. On the mound he delivers from a 3/4 arm slot and sound arm action, getting good extension on his follow through. FB ranges from 75-76 mph and CH is good off-speed ranging from 65-69 mph. His shoulders stay level and he keeps his eyes on the target. More glove side lead and quicker rhythm will help to improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Metzger shows a square setup and solid load. He stays through the ball and has pull side pop. For hitting abilities to improve he needs to let the ball travel deeper into the zone and loosen up his actions. Kolby has potential and with continued hard work will continue to improve in his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
