Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Kyle continues to work hard on his game. On the mound, he works quickly keeping hitters off balance. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches, battling hitters. FB sits 72-75 mph while showing slight sink. Curveball has 10/4 shape with good action when he stays on top. He gets good glove side lead and repeats well. At 2B, Kyle shows active footwork and comes to get the GB. He funnels the ball smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. DP feeds/turns are quick as he gets rid of the ball. Fielding the ball more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. Offensively, Cutler has a simple setup as he tracks pitches into the zone. He connects hitting line-drives to all parts of the field. More extension through his finish will help to increase pop off of his barrel. This 2016 grad is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

11/09/2014 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Kyle is a lean RHP that will graduate in 2016. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. He has some deception and hides the ball well. Fastball shows a range of 72-75 mph with life and arm side run. Changeup is best off speed pitch, as he maintains arm speed, showing a feel for with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches through a quick/fast tempo. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Kyle has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
