08/03/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 1 Kyle is a catcher with a strong frame that will graduate in 2012. Foot speed is near average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Arm strength is solid average with throws displaying accuracy and carry. Pop times were in the 2.14-2.25 range. Receiving and blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to improve. Offensively is where Kyle shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and he shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Swing path gets long due to an arm bar created in his load. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. He is a great teammate that loves to play the game as he listens and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
