10/26/2008 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Linwood continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved, cutting 2 tenths off his 60 time. Arm strength has improved the most as he cut 2 tenths off his pop times and is now a consistent 2.05 thrower. His throws display life, carry, and accuracy into the bag. His transfer / exchange are quick, enabling him to get rid of the baseball quickly. He is now an above average receiver. At the plate, Roberds is a line drive type hitter, showing a solid feel for the barrel to the pull side. Swing path is long as he casts his hands and barrel out around the baseball. Linwood has potential abilities with a lot of room to continue to improve.

11/09/2007 - Dodgertown Select Training Roberds showed arm strength and the ability to take control behind the plate. His best contact at the plate was to the pull side. Tended to get the barrel out and around the ball to contact, resulting in length in his route - needs to work to drive his hands and the barrel inside the ball to contact on a shorter route, will help him work the barrel through the hitting zone longer. Attitude was great, and he showed good work habits.

10/28/2007 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Linwood is a young catcher with the right idea of how to play the game. Plays the game right. Throws are accurate to second. Has a quick transfer and exchange. Good body control. Receives the ball quietly and blocks balls well in the dirt. Tends to throw uphill with shoulders and needs to correct that. Swing is quick with a line drive approach. Tends to pull everything however. Must let ball travel. Has potential and it will be interesting to see how he develops.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
