10/19/2008 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Mark is a RHP with a ton of potential on the mound. His body is solid average and does show projection as it continues to physically mature. His delivery is easy, smooth and repeatable displaying in line direction and on time separation. His mechanics are consistent creating a repeatable delivery with some deception allowing his arm action to work loosely and quick away from his body. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velo of 87 mph. Fastball shows solid arm side run and he does throw a 2 and 4 seam. Breaking ball is above average displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin, late break and is a quality pitch. He throws a slider that is solid average showing more of a sweeping action. Changeup is a splitter that he has a solid feel for with downward action. He does have solid command of all his pitches. Mark will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches and if arm strength continues to rise, some pro scouts as well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
