06/25/2008 - College PREP - Crestwood, IL Mason is a tall strong looking player. At 1B, Mason has an idea of how to turn the double play despite fielding the ball deep. He gets his body into fielding position well and gets rid of it quickly. He needs to work on the mechanics of fielding. At the plate is where Mason shines. The ball jumps off his bat with power to all fields. He stays back and drives the ball with above average bat speed and extension. If he can work on his defensive ability, he will be a prospect at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
