08/04/2008 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Matt is a young player that shows as a two way player on the mound and in the middle of the infield. He currently projects best on the mound where he has some abilities. Arm strength is near above average with his fastball showing late arm side run. Off speed pitches are solid average with his breaking displaying an 11/5 shape with tight spin. He shows a decent feel for his changeup with sinking actions. He throws a slider that looks just like breaking ball. Command is above average with all his pitches. Arm action is loose and easy and shows well in the middle of the infield. Infield actions are more suited for the 3B at present time. At the plate, Matt shows below average ability and needs some instruction and work on mechanics to hit at the next level. Matt has time and potential on the mound and needs to concentrate the majority of his work there.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
