08/12/2008 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Michael is a big kid with solid actions behind the plate. Has life and carry on throws, gains ground, and works in a straight line. On the catch, his hand is firm and he has a good low target. On the block he centers and deadens well. He smothers the ball effectively, but quickness in his lower half needs to improve. At the plate he has some batspeed and a spray approach. Would like to see him stay firm against the front side, but he has a solid feel for the barrel and above average power.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
