09/07/2008 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Neil is a RHP with a tall, strong looking body that shows projection as it continues to physically mature. Arm strength is near above average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and raise in velocities. Fast ball shows arm side run. Forkball is his best off speed pitch showing above average with a solid feel and downward action. Breaking ball is slightly average displaying a 10/4 shape with loose spin and early break. He needs to work on a more consistent release point to develop a more quality breaking ball for the next level. Delivery is solid average but he needs to utilize his tall frame more in working on a strong downhill plane. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid average with near above average power. Bat speed is a plus and he has strength in his swing. He keeps the barrel behind and through the baseball at the point of contact. He does need to let the baseball travel more to keep hands inside and through the baseball to utilize all fields. Neil has potential abilities and is he continues to develop; he will catch the eyes of the college coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
