12/27/2008 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2008 Arevalo did a good job of throwing strikes, and he used his off speed pitches well. His delivery was solid, and his arm worked from a low three quarters to sidearm angle - which created good arm side life on his fastball, but made it difficult to get any downward action on his breaking ball. May consider raising his arm angle to a slot that allows for a more natural and free arm stroke, was a little restricted at his present slot. He was solid defensively, but will need to develop further offensively in order for his glove to have any value. Ran 7.66 in the 60-yard dash.

04/27/2008 - College PREP - Farmingdale, NY Nicholas is a tall, lean LHP with a loose arm and solid command. His delivery needs to tighten up in order to get the most out of his body and his arm. He tends to fly open early and has a lot of sway to his wind-up. As he adds some direction to his delivery, he should see some more velocity and movement. He has a pretty good feel for the changeup, but the breaking ball is loose and the fastball lacks some bite right now. Will improve as mechanics do--has some upside.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
